Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a lush green escape in northern Mumbai, famous for its 2,000-year-old Kanheri Caves carved from basalt rock and wild leopards. The climate is humid subtropical, with best conditions from November to February when temperatures range from 60°F (15°C) to 85°F (30°C)-perfect for hiking to the top of the fort for a view of the Arabian Sea. During the monsoon from June to September, the park closes to protect visitors, but in winter you can cycle through the bamboo groves or spot birds along the Tulsi Lake trail.
