Roatan is a Caribbean island off the coast of Honduras, famous for its barrier reef-the second largest in the world-and world-class scuba diving. The climate stays warm year-round (mid-80s°F / about 29°C), so you can snorkel or dive in the clear waters of the Mesoamerican Reef any month, but the dry season from December to April offers the calmest seas for exploring sites like the El Aguila shipwreck. If you visit during the wetter summer months, you'll find cheaper rates and fewer crowds, plus you can still zip-line through the jungle or visit the Iguana Farm in French Cay.
